The building constructed in 1864 by Mr Thomas was for a long time just a large house without any specific use, until 1874 when it became a lodge. There were several owners over the years, and in 1894 a café-restaurant was opened named 'Restaurant du Lac'. Two years later the building became a three-storey hotel and took on its current name, Hotel Beau Rivage. The hotel-restaurant with its location on the lake became well-known for being the most beautiful location in the popular tourist resort of Gérardmer, and was owned and operated by Mr Henri Scheidig from 1929 until 2000.

In 2000 the current owner Mr Michel Harasse purchased Hotel Beau Rivage and renovated it throughout. The 'New' Beau Rivage opened its doors in March 2001. In 2002, the restaurant 'Côté Lac' was entirely renovated, and one year later lounges were created near the restaurant, as well as suites on the top floor. 2004 was marked by the construction of a new building to house the restaurant 'Toit du Lac', a restaurant in Gérardmer with a panoramic view on the second floor, as well as four flexible conference rooms, four executive rooms, and a spa and swimming pool. In 2005 the terrace in front of Hotel Beau Rivage was altered to allow hotel and restaurant customers to take full advantage of the amazing view.

In 2011 a new massage room, a quiet room and a smoking lounge were created, and then in 2012-2013 most of the rooms with lake views were renovated too. In the last few years, Hotel Beau Rivage, with its past splendour revived, and its lakeside location and majestic architecture, has welcomed prestigious gala dinners, as well as culinary, cultural and sporting events. In late 2015, following the departure of the former owner Lysette Sheidig, who had occupied an apartment on the top floor of the building, it was decided to renovate the other half of the third floor which had not until then been part of the hotel. Five additional rooms were created, including three new suites, and in particular the lakeside Suite No. 306 which is 75m² in size. In 2018, in a collaboration with the well-known painter Mika from the north of France, a great lover of the Vosges, two rooms were given over to him with carte blanche for their decoration. Thus were inaugurated Room 217 on the theme of Love, and room 116 on the theme of Dreams. 2020-2021: The pandemic affected the whole profession, and we were closed during the lockdowns. So we decided to take advantage of that – it's always difficult to renovate a working hotel and we decided to redecorate all of the classic and lakeside rooms with a single aim: to achieve 4-star hotel status. In April 2022: the restaurant and the lounges on the ground floor were renovated: a billiard table was added, the carpets were changed, new furniture by Collinet was purchased, the curtains were replaced and it was all fully repainted. The colour scheme was chocolate, cream and gold in a pared-back Art Deco style. Our clients now enjoy an even warmer and more modern setting. On 20 June 2022: Following a mystery visit to the hotel, we were officially awarded 4 stars. In mid-2023, Villa Concorde was inaugurated, which can now be rented through the hotel. The villa was purchased in 2019, when Michel and Thomas Harasse fell in love with it. The villa is 500 metres from Hotel Beau Rivage, and is 500m² in size, set in a park of 5,000m². In addition to an absolutely exceptional view over the lake and a unique location, it is an example of an architectural style which can no longer be found in Gérardmer and disappeared during the Second World War.
